How It Works - Couple

Your Wedding Republic gift registry is a visual representation of your ideal Wish List. You can create a gift list that reflects what you really want and since it is a cash registry, you receive the monetary value of each item you post.

It’s easy and convenient for both you and your guests. Nothing is off limits; from camping gear to a big screen TV to that chic plate set only available at a boutique store, you can set up a gift registry that is perfect for the two of you! Your registry can be created in minutes:

Create

Set up your registry for free and fill in your wedding profile information, including names, dates and description.

Select Gifts

Choose gifts from our gift list add your own. You add the photo, cost and description of your ideal gifts. You can even add expensive gifts and break them apart using WR’s Puzzle Piece feature (patent pending). Guests can then buy “piece” of the puzzle!

Rank Gifts

Rank your gifts from your top picks to stuff you’d like, but can do without. This way, your guests can see what’s most important to you.

Invite family and friends to view your gift registry. You can import emails from your address book, enter the emails yourself or invite your friends through facebook.

When you initially set up your account, you are asked to choose a closing date. This will be the last day that guests can make contributions to your gift list (we recommend keeping the registry open for a few days after the wedding to allow guests more time to make their contributions). The date must be after your wedding day and can be postponed should you choose to extend it.
Once your registry has closed, you will be contacted by Wedding Republic to verify your personal information. You can choose either of the following methods to collect your funds:

Provide your banking information so Wedding Republic can deposit the funds directly to your account. This is our preferred method as it is secure and highly traceable.
If you chose not to disclose your banking information, we ask that you verify your personal information and a cheque will be sent to your mailing address.

You will receive your guest contributions within 5 to 14 days of closing your registry and verifying your personal information.

Nothing is off limits, so figure out what you need and what you want and add it to your registry so your guests can see. You can also check out this sample registry to see what it’s all about.

What's the Catch?

So you're probably thinking, this all sounds great and I know it said free, but there must be a fee? Well, you're right. While we would love to offer everything for free, we do have bills to pay just like everyone else! Guests pay a small percentage fee on every gift transaction (currently 4.5%). Creating, managing and sharing the registry is completely free for the happy couple, making the gift process for your wedding stress free and fun!

How It Works - Guest

Buying a gift that you know the engaged couple wants, needs and will get enjoyment from has never been easier. To ensure the couple gets what they really want, WR has created a cash-based registry system so you can see exactly how they will use your contribution to start their life together. To make a purchase, just follow these steps:

Enter either the couples url or search for the couple's last name. Once you’ve found the couple you’re searching for, you can begin to brows the registry.

Browse

As you browse through the registry, note that some of the gifts may be ranked by the couple to give you an idea of what they want or need the most. Expensive items may also be broken into Puzzle Pieces using WR’s unique Puzzle Piece feature (patent pending), so be sure to click on the gift, even if it seems out of your price range! Once you’ve picked a gift, you can add a best wishes note to the couple. You can choose to keep your contribution a surprise until the big day or send it right away, it’s up to you!

Purchase

To finalize your purchase, just continue to checkout and fill in your payment information. All major credit cards and Paypal transfers are accepted. A transaction fee of 4.5% will be charged upon purchase and once your purchase has been processed, you will receive an email confirmation.

Why don’t I just give Cash at the Wedding?

Wedding Republic is a safe and secure way to give to the couple and allows them to easily track and monitor their gifts. Unfortunately, carrying and leaving cash at most reception halls is not the most secure option available!

What happens if the puzzle is not completed?

Since Wedding Republic is a cash registry, the couple still gets all of the funds. However, if the gift is not purchased in its entirety, they may choose to use the money for something else.
